Hang-up Calls Hurt!
If you call 9-1-1 by accident, don't
hang up! We only have to call you
back which takes us away from
answering other calls. Also, if you
call 9-1-1 and get a recording -
please stay on the line as the
message requests. If we can't get to
you within seven seconds of your
initial call, a recording will
inform you that you have reached the
emergency number. This device was
installed to curb the number of
citizens who call 9-1-1 and hang-up
after only 2 rings.

CALEA Tri-Arc Award |
|
The Knox County Emergency
Communications District recently
received the first "Tri-Arc" Award
issued by the Commission for
Accreditation of Law enforcement
Agencies (CALEA). Knoxville is the
only community anywhere in the world
in which the Police Department,
Police Training Academy, and 9-1-1
center have all passed the strenuous
accreditation process.
